The Director of Marketing & Communications at the BU School of Social Work is charged with creating and executing communication plans that successfully support the recruitment, programmatic, and strategic goals of the School. This position reports directly to the Dean and oversees the marketing team. The primary purpose of this position is to provide strategic direction to the marketing and promotion of all SSW educational, research and other programmatic activities; to identify priority areas of focus; and collaborate with stakeholders, including faculty and administration across departments and centers to strenghten and raise SSWs national reputation through the promotion and execution of comprehensive, multi-platform marketing and communication plans. Recurrent areas of focus include: marketing efforts for departments; internal communication to faculty, staff, students, and alumni; improving visibility and support of school-wide events and traditions; and public relations on behalf of the Deans Office, SSW faculty, and administration, with an emphasis on breaking news, community involvement, and research; and strengthening SSWs connection to its large alumni base.
