International Education (IE) has a rich history at Shoreline Community College and is an important part of the College's mission to serve the needs of its diverse students and communities. The work of the IE department helps to advance the College's strategic plan in a variety of ways, including in the development of multicultural and global competencies to help us live the principles of social equity in an increasingly interdependent world.
The Associate Director plays an active role in helping to define, plan, and evaluate enrollment strategies and recruitment activities in target markets to help meet the College's international student enrollment goals. The position reports to the Executive Director for International Education and is responsible for coordinating the activities of IE's Outreach team. The position works closely with the other Associate Directors of Outreach to strengthen current markets and develop new ones. Each Associate Director of Outreach is assigned lead responsibility for certain markets.
NOTE: Position travels internationally up to 2 weeks at a time, up to 12 weeks annually.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Closely follow international recruitment and enrollment trends, strategies, and activities and identify growth opportunities. Coordinate the development of annual marketing and recruitment plan in collaboration with the Communications & Marketing (C&M) unit; actively develop, implement, and monitor marketing and student goals (annual targets), objectives, and strategies.
Coordinate recruitment trips and other outreach activities with input from the Outreach team and in consultation with the enrollment management team.
Evaluate results on a continuous basis by analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and recommend adjustments as needed; prepare reports on market trends and client (students and partner agencies) concerns for use to improve student recruitment plans, services, and retention.
Lead marketing efforts, such as social media and email marketing, with the help of staff and student employees.
Take the lead in creation of promotional materials and website content in collaboration with C&M.
Assist with implementation of consistent standards, practices, and training for the outreach area.
Identify and implement best practices related to working with overseas recruitment agents; recommend new agent contracts, renewals or terminations, and requests for resources to promote the College; coordinate agent training.
Increase lead generation and optimize yield from prospects to enrolled students by leveraging effective communication plans and technologies.
Coordinate visa training provided to admitted students.
Supervise International Programs Manager-China Specialist position.
Provide recommendations related to marketing and outreach recruitment budgets; including allocation of resources for assigned countries.
Conduct marketing presentations at secondary and post-secondary institutions, student recruitment fairs, and individual meetings with prospective students and parents; help to identify, maintain, and foster on-going international relationships with recruitment partner agencies, international high schools, and US Consulates and Embassies.
Collaborate with other International Education and College units to assure departmental and College goals are achieved.
Collaborate widely with other campus units to advance integration of international and resident students.
Facilitate communication with business and academic partners as well as individual students and parents about college programs and services.
Assist in combined College New Student Orientation and specific international student orientation program on a quarterly basis.
Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, International Relations or related from an accredited institution
Two (2) years of experience recruiting international students, meeting enrollment goals and working with international students, partners, or other international stakeholders OR equivalent experience
Experience in direct marketing, sales, or social media marketing OR equivalent experience
Fluency in written/spoken English
Note: Ability to work and travel freely to and from the United States
Theories and practices applicable to international education, marketing, and recruitment.
Microsoft Office applications such as Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word programs (or similar).
Direct marketing and Customer Relations Management (CRM) software, or strong interest in learning how to use such tools.
Online marketing and an understanding of major marketing channels.
Applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to FERPA and F-1 nonimmigrant status.
Cultural fluency in the business and social practices of recruitment markets.
