The College of Business and Economics is seeking applications for the position of Senior Director of Marketing and Communications. This position will work closely with the Dean and other senior leadership of the College as a collaborative and visionary leader to determine and develop marketing/communication goals and priorities, and to execute tactics to achieve said goals. Success in this position will be evaluated based on the candidate's ability to:

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will also:
Work with each unit, center and department in the College to assess, determine and prioritize needs, and develop marketing goals specific to each area while enhancing overall awareness and positioning of the College's strategic goals.
Lead College-wide market research efforts, as well as project-specific research efforts, to guide the strategic direction and development of marketing/communications plans for the College.
Direct and/or execute major events, campaigns or initiatives. Lend tactical and strategic perspective to the college calendar of events by utilizing knowledge of the bigger picture.
Direct and maintain consistency in all aspects of the College's strategic initiatives marketing and communication in direct alignment with WVU's as a whole.
Lead and work with marketing and communications staff to support, strengthen and extend the College's and WVU's brand. Recruit and hire new staff members as required.
Promote teamwork by sharing project ownership/visibility with appropriate teammates and colleagues and establish a culture of cooperation and relationship building.
Establish meaningful benchmarks and metrics to determine effectiveness of tactics and regularly assess tactics and make adjustments for improvement.
Develop processes to ensure analysis of current publications and communications while identifying and researching key audiences about perceptions, attitudes, demographics, etc.
Prepare annual budget and manage budgetary expenses associated with marketing and programmatic activities.
Collaborate with faculty and staff leaders in all units of the College to refine internal and external messages, and aid them in developing strategies to stimulate public awareness, understanding and support for programs administered by their units.
Effectively lead, manage and supervise those in his/her charge; communicate a vision and outline parameters, provide opportunities for personal and professional growth through regular performance reviews, feedback, and guidance; encourage training while presenting new techniques/ideas.
Bachelor of Science degree in marketing, business administration, communications or related field required; master's degree preferred
Six (6) years of professional, relevant experience is required, including two (2) years of managerial experience and three (3) years in a leadership role
Eight (8) years of experience or more is preferred
Knowledge of core marketing principles and brand evangelism
Demonstrated ability to develop, organize and execute communications and marketing plans
Ability to set and keep deadlines at a fast pace without losing accuracy
Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgment to facilitate problem identification, generate alternative solutions and adapt to changing situations
Successful completion of a background and reference check
