The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at West Virginia University is seeking applications for the position of Assistant Director of Athletic Marketing. The position will be responsible for developing, recommending and implementing marketing and promotional strategies to increase awareness and attendance for various athletics programs.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Supervise event promotions for baseball, volleyball, and wrestling, and other varsity sports as assigned.
Direct ticket marketing campaigns and special events, including season ticket sales, single game ticket sales, group ticket sales and game promotions.
Develop marketing plans, innovative promotions, email campaigns, media schedules and holding functions for various sporting events.
Coordinate the fulfillment of obligations to various sponsors and advertisers.
Assist with home game promotional operations for all sports, and the recruitment and scheduling of student workers.
Develop and coordinate promotional activities aimed at increasing student attendance for assigned sports.
Work Hours: Varies – Must work extended hours including nights and weekends.
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in sports administration, marketing or similar field
Minimum two (2) years collegiate athletics marketing, operations, or administration experience, preferably at the Division I level.
Knowledge of NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics
Knowledge of NCAA and conference guidelines, policies, rules and regulations
Ability to manage multiple tasks for extended period of time
Ability to independently plan and organize work
Proactive attitude towards work and assignments
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Ability to maintain proper unit attendance and punctuality standards and work extended hours including nights and weekends
