Company Profile Wild Planet Adventures has been in business for 27 years, and have been named "one of the best adventure travel companies on earth" by National Geographic Adventure. We design and operate both small group scheduled tours and private custom travel in 17 countries. We are wildlife experts. In creating specialized wildlife-focused tours; our unique itineraries incorporate specially arranged wildlife activities, exclusive wildlife viewing opportunities, small groups, top naturalist or biologist guides, and itineraries designed to offer the best possible access to the most coveted animals of each region. Position Summary This position reports to the founder and owner of Wild Planet Adventures, based in Marin County (north of San Francisco). Wild Planet’s office is in the home of the owner. The person selected will assist the owner (primary) and Operations Manager (secondary) in running and growing the business. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter with previous travel industry experience who excels in a small entrepreneurial environment, loves sales and marketing, takes initiative, is eager to learn and grow, and is passionate about the transformative power of wildlife and active travel. After a training period, the position offers flexibility of working in the Wild Planet office 2-3 days a week, and the remaining days from home.
Responsibilities •Creating content for website, e-news, press releases, etc. •Deploy, monitor and analyze results of marketing pieces •Manage and coordinate Wild Planet social media, webinars, speaking opportunities, etc. •Research, implement and manage marketing projects guided by owner. •Request quotes from Wild Planet ground operator partners •Assist owner with traveler inquiries and over time, take full responsibility for handling some inquiries from initial contact through booking . •Follow up with prospects per direction from owner •Handle special projects as assigned by owner •In coordination with Wild Planet Operations Manager, handle all appropriate duties when owner is traveling or on vacation •Maintain and publish staff travel schedules •Handle some basic office administration as needed. •Receive/distribute incoming mail •As required during peak travel season, assist Operations Manager Qualifications & Requirements •Excellent customer service skills •Detail oriented – extremely important •Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate input into compelling content •Has created and implemented creative, cost-effective marketing •Self-starter; willing and able to work from both home and Wild Planet office •Excellent organizational skills •Prior experience in use of tour operator reservation software highly desirable •Desire to contribute to and help grow a purpose-driven company •Experience with and passion for social media to grow and nurture a community •Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint •Prior experience in working with and relating to older affluent travelers •Genuine passion for wildlife, nature and immersive travel • Ability to design interview questions and turn them into exciting, engaging content.
Strong preference given to candidates who have a minimum of three years prior small group tour operator or tourism marketing and sales experience.
Prior travel experience to one or more of Wild Planet’s core destinations – Costa Rica, Brazil, Peru, Thailand, Borneo, South Africa, Uganda, and Zambia is also highly desirable.

The Ideal candidate currently resides in San Francisco Bay Area. Candidates outside the Bay Area will be considered but relocation expenses will be candidate’s responsibility. Full-time strongly preferred, but position can also be 30-32 hours per week for the right candidate.
