The Director of Student Services, Marketing, and Communications oversees communications, marketing and graduate student services including advising, recruitment, and retention in the Graduate School of Education (GSE). The Director also works closely with Enrollment Management professionals in the University who oversee undergraduate education and is involved in discussions about planning and developing undergraduate programs in the GSE. All personnel in these areas report to the Director, who works in collaboration with other departments in the GSE, to successfully promote the GSE and its programs while effectively recruiting and retaining students across a diverse array of over 40 academic programs within 4 distinctive departments. The Director serves as a member of the GSE's Leadership Team and as a member of the Administrative Leadership Team. As such, the Director must act as a liaison between classified staff and academic professional faculty along with members of the Leadership Team including the Dean, Associate Dean, Senior Fiscal Officer and department chairs. The Director also serves as a liaison with University offices including the Office of Graduate Studies, Undergraduate Admissions, Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Communications, and Contracting. When appropriate, the Director coordinates with the Office of Information Technology, Office of Academic Innovation, and other offices throughout the University. The Director is also active in negotiating and contracting with service providers and vendors as related to student support and recruitment initiatives. The Director works in conjunction with the GSE Senior Fiscal Officer for budget development, financial management, and planning for the department. The position reports directly to the Dean of the GSE.
Applicants for this position must have: - A graduate degree in administration, communication, education, or a closely related field; - A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion; - Experience with recruiting and enrolling ethnically and racially diverse student populations using digital and face-to-face strategies; - At least three years of experience working as a leader in a higher education setting while supervising teams comprised of 10 or more members; - Experience working collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders; - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the demonstrated ability to clearly disseminate complex academic regulations/policies in a clear and concise manner through presentation and facilitation skills; - Demonstrated ability to create reports, plans, and presentation materials from scratch for use with strategic and departmental planning; - Experience with technology and student databases with demonstrated skills in analyzing data, creating reports, identifying trends, and developing responsive strategies. - Excellent ability to manage details, multitask, retain organization, and meet deadlines. - Awareness of and compliance with Federal and State rules and regulations such as FERPA, Title IV, and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. - Proven ability to resolve conflict and maintain ethical and professional business practices in all aspects of the role. - Experience developing and using business, marketing, or higher education analytics; - At least three years of professional experience working with digital financial management tools (e.g., spreadsheets, google apps); and - Experience managing complex departmental or unit budgets; - Highly skilled with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and - Highly skilled with Google documents, Gmail, and Google Drive.
The ideal applicant should possess all the minimum qualifications and have: - Doctorate in educational leadership or closely related field; - Experience using customer relationship management software, business collaboration software; - Experience with content management systems (e.g., websites) and design software; and, - Experience partnering with human resource departments and familiarity with collective bargaining agreements.
