Department/College Description The Division of Development and Alumni Relations is dedicated to advancing the mission and vision of RIT. Strategically critical to achieving the universitys goals, the Division of Development and Alumni Relations nurtures lifelong, mutually beneficial relationships with alumni, parents, friends, faculty/staff and organizations resulting in deeper connections, greater volunteer engagement and increased philanthropic support. We are a team-oriented, highly collaborative Division working with all areas of the university to maximize fundraising opportunities and alumni involvement.
Detailed Job Description The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing the marketing and communications materials in support of the division's fundraising and constituent engagement goals. In this role, the individual must appropriately and consistently represent the university's brandin visual as well as written formatsacross all forms of media and channels/platforms. The relevant forms of materials/collateral include but are not limited to invitations/STDs, direct mail, brochures, signage, advertising, promotional items, email, website pages, video and any other materials deemed relevant to achieving the goals of the division. Collaboration is necessary with various departments within the division including but not limited to, the Office of Alumni Relations, The Fund for RIT, major/principal/leadership/planned giving, the Office of Donor Relations and Stewardship, and constituent relations.
Create unique, effective visual and written marketing materials and communications to increase audience knowledge of RIT's needs to maximize fundraising and alumni/donor/constituent involvement in the life of the university.
Manage process from marketing and communications engagement requests through approvals and production/publication; ensure all requirements have been successfully met. Manipulate digital images and use other multimedia programs; design for offset and digital printing plus the web and in email.
Drive consistency of message and of style (concise, consistent and compelling), and ensuring the university's brand standards are consistently upheld and invoking the required branding elements and key messaging in all materials.
Apply design principles and styles to create high quality, compelling materials. Is responsible for successfully rolling out enhanced/revised brand guidelines as determined by the central marketing organization of the university.
Creativity and applied problem solving while adhering to brand standards a must.
Collaborate with other Marketing and Communications team members and Development and Alumni Relations staff, and other RIT departments across campus to produce cost-effective, effective marketing/communications collateral; schedule required photo/video shoots, gather necessary photos and other graphic images as needed.
Contribute, where necessary, to the monthly e-newsletter, Tiger's Tale and internal Tiger Talk e-newsletter
Interface with internal and external vendors to ensure highest quality, cost-effective end results and a mutually beneficial professional relationship with RIT.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, design
3-5 years of marketing, communications and design experience
Experience with Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office Suite.
Other skills include the ability to successfully use a digital camera and edit/touch-up imagery as needed; creating and editing PDF files.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact with technical staff, customers, and internal/external vendors.
Must be organized, able to prioritize multiple projects and able to meet very tight deadlines.
