Job Summary The role of the marketing and communications manager is to research, craft and shape communications and marketing content for members and other target audiences. The busy two-person department works as a team to publish a monthly magazine and maintain all channels of communications while supporting the membership departments objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities Magazine Help write, edit and proof a 48-page plus cover monthly color magazine that is produced inhouse. Collect monthly mail data and log results for circulation statement. Migrate print content to online content in PDF and RTF formats.
Marketing Works collaboratively with other FRA staff to develop a strategic, multi-tiered marketing plan for programs, products, and services. Create and schedule multiple email campaigns throughout the year. Work with membership director to develop and execute membership retention/acquisition campaigns.
Social Media Take the lead on keeping the Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels active. Reply to or route question that are posted, keeping the response times within an acceptable time frame. Encourage, support and train other staff to support the social media efforts.
Photography Attend events and capture images that are used in print and online throughout the year. Research, gather and archive images used for print and online.
Newsletters Edit and fact check newsletter content that is supplied. Gather and post distribution lists, check all links, test and schedule distribution each week. Review and document result metrics.
Websites Manage the national websites, including content updates and database support to keep all information up to date, engaging and appealing. Understand proper file format and size.
Experience To be considered, candidates should have experience managing digital marketing and traditional marketing efforts. Demonstratable experience managing SEO/SEM. Database, email, social media, display advertising campaign experience a plus.
Candidates must have written/edited/layout for a publication, preferably in print for more than 1 year. Must be able to research, interview, write and compose a 1500-word feature and quickly knock out a 300-word release.
Job Requirements Experience in a nonprofit, membership association. Strong writing and editing skills (AP Style). Graphic/web design experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop (illustrator a plus). Must have experience with social media management (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn), basic photography and photo editing skills. Ability to work in WordPress.org/Wordpress.com and HTML/CSS platform. Experience in public relations and news media.
