Objectives: Actively promote the efficient use of electricity and all products and services to members of the cooperative. Implement and conduct programs and services that promote member service and enhance the image of the cooperative and deliver exceptional service to its members and general public. Promote positive member and public relations by actively participating in civic and community organizations and developing support for the cooperative’s plans, programs and objectives.
Essential Functions: Create and maintain on-going business relationship with the cooperative’s Key Accounts. Handle member complaints at a time and place convenient to the member. Work within bounds of established policies and procedures to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the member. Write and/or assist in writing articles and preparing collateral material for various publications of the cooperative. Conduct both formal and informal meetings to inform and train Cooperative employees. Make presentations to consumer groups and other organizations. Establish and maintain good working relationships with allied organizations, government officials and agencies, and other influential individuals and organizations. Make observations and surveys at every opportunity to determine the perception of the Cooperative by members and general public. Assists with planning for District Meetings, Annual Meetings and F.O.R.E./Service events.
Other Functions: Develop and advise Director of Member Relations and Public Relations of methods to enhance the Cooperative and departmental goals. Assist other employees and staff as assigned. Participate in job related training, pertinent workshops and seminars when requested. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Stay informed on a continuing basis of all items of interest to the Cooperative. Answer telephone and in-person inquiries in a manner that conveys understanding and acceptance of the cooperative’s plans, programs and objectives. Report the need to purchase and repair materials, supplies and equipment.
Keep time and departmental records in orderly fashion. Perform other duties as requested or directed.
Education: Post secondary degree in business, marketing, public relations or related field preferred. Five years related experience and/or training in agriculture, marketing, and/or public relations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Experience: Previous experience working with commercial clients and or developers is preferred. Previous work experience with an electric utility, marketing, public relations, energy management, or a Cooperative is preferred.
Abilities and Skills: Must have strong written/verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively handle priorities and complete them in a timely manner and the ability to work independently are required. Must possess excellent personal computer skills. Ability to learn and use cooperative specific computer programs and software. Have basic knowledge of digital photography. Ability to prepare and present oral and written presentations of complex materials. Possess a valid driver’s license. Fieldwork may require exertion of up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force more frequently. Lifting and carrying of 50 pounds occasionally. Hazards include some exposure to dust and dirt.
