Forestry Administration is seeking an Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications. This is a full-time 1.00 FTE, 12-month, fixed-term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.
The Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications (AD) works under the supervision of the Director of Marketing and Communications to provide day-to-day marketing and communications content creation, management and planning to support the College's strategic priorities and to enhance its brand image.
The AD consults with the Director in prioritizing central College-level marketing communications efforts that support the dean's priorities and those that support department-level initiatives.
The AD creates, develops, produces, and distributes materials that advance the research, education, and outreach goals and mission of the College.
The AD not only manages assigned projects but also creates and contributes significant, high-quality content to them. Toward these efforts, the AD:
Researches, writes, edits, and manages the electronic and print-based materials of the College, which may include print publications, websites, electronic newsletters, social media, video production, strategic documents, event collaterals, advertisement, special reports, displays, etc.
Models best practices for editorial content development, photographic selection, and storytelling that reflect the College's communication goals and priorities.
Effectively communicates research discoveries in a compelling way to the College's diverse audiences.
Makes technical and design determinations related to print, electronic, and video content that present the College as a destination of choice for forestry education and research.
The AD assists in the development and implementation of the College's marketing and communications plan; works with the Director to assist in brand management, ensuring visual and message consistency across the College's units; and provides guidance and direction on individual unit marketing efforts so that they tie to the larger College strategic goals and stay on brand.
The AD cultivates relationships and serves as a liaison with the College's units to coordinate efforts that ensure synergistic, comprehensive, and consistent marketing communication activities to achieve the goals associated with the College's marketing communications plan.
The AD meets with internal/external clients to determine the scope, resources, and budget estimate for projects. The AD determines the plan and executes the tactics in a timely and professional manner with regular contact with the client and, when appropriate, with the Director. The AD establishes and maintains procedures, coordinates projects to accomplish goals, monitors projects for compliance with applicable policies and procedures, and is responsible for ensuring the projects stay on time and within budget.
