The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), Center for Vaccine Development and Global Health (CVD) brings together more than four decades of innovative and life-saving research on vaccines and infectious diseases. CVD has been front and center in the response to the COVID-19 pandemic by conducting high profile clinical and epidemiologic research and participating in educational and policy activities. At CVD, we work to prevent and treat enteric and respiratory diseases, to reduce the threat of malaria and antimicrobial resistance, and to identify, understand and combat other tropic and emerging pathogens burdening low resource settings. The CVD is seeking a Senior Marketing Specialist to join our team to promote our essential work . Another primary responsibility of this position is to assist with marketing efforts to aid in recruitment of study participants for CVD's many clinical research trials. While this position will be housed in CVD, there will be strong collaborations with the UMSOM Office of Public Affairs & Communications with approximately one day per week dedicated to their marketing needs.

Recommends and implements strategies to achieve marketing and recruitment goals for the department or school. Performs market research projects.
Prepares press releases and marketing information for social media and communication distribution. Ensures department or school image is positively maintained.
Produces informational items such as brochures, direct mail and advertising to promote the department or school. Contacts potential clients from leads generated.
Creates novel approaches to building business such as special events, media outlets, special services or incentives.
Identifies needs and develops communication strategies with marketing specifications including defined outcomes and deadlines. Coordinates operational effectiveness within the marketing function to ensure project specifications and defined outcomes are met.
Works closely with project leads and contributes to the design, coordination, and implementation of project related communications.
Manages the design, production, and distribution of public information materials for target audiences, including briefing /background materials, brochures and fact sheets.
Designs, manages and implements automated digital and direct marketing campaigns for clinical trials, including enhanced SEO optimization designs and geo-fencing with targeted advertising.
Confers with senior leadership to plan public relations strategy and objectives for the short and mid-term future.
Tracks metrics associated with communication strategies.
Prepares annual reports.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or communications.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in marketing, public relations, communications, or media, public, or client relations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
