Basic Function: The Associate Director ofAdmissions Marketing functions within the office of University Marketing and is responsible for leading the Admissions Marketing team and for casting the vision and directing strategy for admissions marketing at all program levels. This employee is responsible for leading the Admissions Marketing team as they create and implement strategic marketing initiatives with the purpose of enrolling new students. This employee plays an essential role in coordinating with university faculty and staff regarding the marketing and promotion of Biola and its programs to prospective students. In addition, this employee is responsible for overseeing the creation and maintenance of all admissions marketing collateral and messaging, both print and digital.
1.Admissions Marketing Team Leadership: Responsible for leading the Admissions Marketing team into health and thriving, individually and as a team. Will direct the Admissions Marketing professional and student staff as one unified team, ensuring that they work together smoothly and productively. Will seek to engage and unlock the gifts of each person on the team and to create a culture of health and trust.
2.Marketing Insight and Innovation: Responsible for bringing fresh marketing insight and for casting a vision for admissions marketing. This employee must encourage innovation and fresh ideas, creating a culture that encourages risk-taking and creativity, and that pushes us to think differently.
3.New Program Marketing Development & Other Strategic Initiatives:Responsible for overseeing the development of marketing plans for new academic programs as they are created and launched, through the work of the Admissions Marketing Managers who will lead out on and implement the plans at the program level. Will also direct other strategic admissions marketing initiatives.
4.Print & Digital Collateral: Responsible for overseeing the conceptualization, creation and maintenance of all print and digital marketing collateral for admissions at all program levels including undergraduate, graduate, and online programs. This work will be carried out through the Admissions Marketing team.
5.Direct Marketing: Responsible for directing the strategic creation of a robust series of communication to prospective students at all program levels, and also to other essential constituents (parents, etc.).
6.Admissions Operations Collaboration: Responsible to work closely with Admissions Operations in optimizing the utilization of CRM Recruit, both in direct marketing as well as in marketing data analysis. Responsible to ensure that our marketing and communication is data-driven, measurable, effective and efficient.
7.Social Media: Will work with the Admissions Marketing professional and student staff, as well as with University Communication, to lead the team into strategic and creative usage of social media platforms for admissions marketing.
8.Vendor Management: Responsible for assisting in managing the relationships with select admissions marketing vendors to acquire and generate leads and inquiries. Will especially assist with the creation and oversight of the marketing material these vendors use to market Biola to prospective students.
9.Web Team: Responsible to engage with the university web team on behalf of Admissions Marketing. Will coordinate with this team regarding website content geared toward prospective students, and to ensure that the university website is an effective admissions marketing tool.
10.Admissions Mailroom: Responsible (through leading the directly responsible Marketing Manager) to oversee the effective utilization of the admissions mailroom for the sending out of print collateral and admissions letters that are most effectively sent from our own mailroom rather than from an external vendor. Responsible for ensuring the team maintains the needed volume of print marketing collateral and other marketing items (t-shirts, pennants, giveaways, etc.).
11.Budgetary Oversight: Responsible for ultimate oversight of the Undergraduate Marketing budget and the Graduate Marketing budget through delegating appropriate direct oversight to Admissions Marketing Managers.
12.Supervision: Supervises five to six professional staff (three Admissions Marketing Managers, one to two Admissions Marketing Copywriters, and a CRM & Communication Specialist). This supervision involves managing the hiring and training processes for these positions, as well as the professional development of these employees as they seek to thrive in using their gifts in the service of the university.
13.Collaboration with other Teams: This position is a central and connecting position between Admissions Marketing and many other departments, notably Admissions Recruiting at all levels, Admissions Events, Admissions Operations, Creative Services and Advertising within University Marketing, University Communication, and academic departments and schools. It is essential that this employee build bridges and trust. This will often necessitate regular presence at meetings with these individuals and teams across the university.
14.Committees: This employee will regularly attend the extended University Marketing Leadership Group. In addition, this person will be asked to serve on committees related to marketing for the university as needed.
15.Other duties as assigned by supervisor
a.Education: Requires a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) from a 4-year college or university, or requisite experience in a related field. Five years of related training or experience in marketing or higher education admissions is preferred. Experience in supervision is preferred.
b.Communication/Leadership/Personal Skills: This position requires the ability to conceptualize and develop creative marketing strategies and cast a vision for admissions marketing. This position must be able to oversee the production of marketing messaging. An understanding of marketing insight is essential. This position also requires soft skills of leadership, as much collaboration and connection with others is required. This position requires the ability to manage a large number of projects simultaneously and well. Project management experience is preferred.
c.Technical Skills: This position requires the ability to learn basic web content management. This position must have experience using social media platforms. Knowledge of and experience with social media marketing strategy and marketing analysis is preferred.
